  40. Installation will place these files in a single directory on your
  41. hard disk, as well as creating a Program manager group with a few
  42. icons for Neuralyst as well as the Demonstration Guide. No other
  43. changes will be made to your Windows installation.

  48. 2. Installation
  49. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

  51. The first thing you should do is to install Neuralyst onto your hard disk.
  52. To do this, FIRST MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE A COPY OF EXCEL (TM) 4.0 OR LATER
  53. AND ARE RUNNING MICROSOFT WINDOWS (TM) 3.1 OR LATER.  In the Program
  54. Manager, give the File Run command.  In the dialog box that appears, enter
  55. the command "A:INSTALL.EXE", for floppy install, or "C:\YOURPATH\INSTALL.EXE",
  56. for network or unzipped directory install, and press the "OK" button.  (Note
  57. that YOURPATH should be replaced with the path to the network or unzipped
  58. directory containing the Neuralyst files).
  59.  
  60. The Neuralyst installation program on the floppy or unzipped directory will
  61. copy all of the Neuralyst files onto the specified path on your hard disk,
  62. and install icons into the Program Manager to provide easy access to
  63. Neuralyst.  If you wish the unzipped directory to be the installed directory,
  64. then uncheck the "Copy Files on Installation" check box and confirm that
  65. the INSTALL.EXE program now shows your unzipped directory.  Clearing this
  66. check box will cause INSTALL.EXE to skip the file copying phase and perform
  67. only the icon installation phase.

  69. BE SURE THAT THE EXCEL IS REGISTERED IN WIN.INI SO THAT XLS AND XLM FILES
  70. WILL PROPERLY INVOKE EXCEL.  See the NEURDEMO.WRI or NEURDEMO.HLP for more
  71. information on the installation procedure.

  76. 3. Demonstration Restrictions
  77. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

  79. This demonstration version of Neuralyst has several restrictions that 
  80. are not present in the full product. These restrictions have been
  81. chosen to permit use of all of the included example worksheets, as well
  82. as permitting the user to try out neural network technology on their
  83. own problems and data. These restrictions are as follows:
  84.  
  85.   * Network weights cannot be re-loaded. Weights saved to a worksheet
  86.     may be printed and analyzed after training, but they will be replaced
  87.     by random values when reloaded. This means that no training can be
  88.     preserved in a saved worksheet. The full product allows training to
  89.     be preserved in a saved worksheet.
  90.  
  91.   * Networks cannot have more than one hidden layer, for a maximum of a 
  92.     three layer network. The full product allows as many as four hidden
  93.     layers, for a maximum of a six-layer network.
  94.  
  95.   * Networks cannot have more than 400 input cells, 200 output and target
  96.     cells, or 300 total connections. The full product permits as many as
  97.     6,550 rows with inputs, outputs and targets limitted only by available
  98.     memory. The full product permits as many as 131,000 connections.
  99.  
  100.   * The Genetic Training supervisor feature is disabled. The full product
  101.     permits the use of a powerful genetic algorithm to assist with the
  102.     configuration of a neural net that is best suited to your data.
  103.  
  104.   * The Trader's Macro Library, a technical stock/futures analysis
  105.     package, is disabled.  The full product includes this package, which
  106.     facilitates the computation and maintenance of processed stock/futures
  107.     data, at no additional charge.  Computations supported by the Trader's
  108.     Macro Library include: Simple and Exponential Moving Averages; Moving
  109.     Average Oscillators; Rate of Change; Momentum; Relative Strength Index;
  110.     Stochastic Oscillators; and others.

  126. Excel Demonstration (Neuralyst Demo Software).  Neuralyst Demo Software
  127. may be freely used and distributed, subject to the terms listed here.
  128. Your use of the Neuralyst Demo Software implies acceptance of the terms of
  129. this license.

  140. Material by Cheshire Engineering Corporation and others.  All rights are

  143. This software and the accompanying documentation are protected by U.S.
  144. Copyright Laws and by International Treaty.  Any violation of the terms of
  145. this license or the Copyright Law will be prosecuted to the full extent of
  146. the law.

  149. evaluation purposes only.  You may not use, copy, rent, lease, sell,
  150. network, transmit, modify, adapt, translate, decompile, disassemble, or

  168. of the files listed in README.TXT are missing, or README.TXT itself is

  173. and data files, cannot be modified in any way and must be distributed as
